Webgl Chrome Lag Fix (This should work for most people)

  • February 19, 2018 2:57 PM PST

checked some stuff on google chrome in the flags section and that seemed to fix my lag while playing on webgl so I could share it here. ----- If in Chrome, type chrome://flags/ in the address bar, ensure that "Override software rendering list" is "Enabled" For Google Chrome: First, enable hardware acceleration: Go to chrome://settings Click the + Show advanced settings button In the System section, ensure the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox is checked (you'll need to relaunch Chrome for any changes to take effect) Then enable WebGL: Go to chrome://flags Ensure that Disable WebGL is not activated (you'll need to relaunch Chrome for any changes to take effect)

Enabling "Override software rendering list" in chrome://flags/ can definitely improve the performance, but only if your Graphics Card is not supported or have an outdated driver.

In Chrome go to chrome://gpu/ and under "Graphics Feature Status", if near WebGL2 and Canvas you have "Hardware accelerated" then enabling that option will most likely do nothing, otherwise you can try enabling it and see if it imrpoves performance
