"ICOS" WITH SOME GLOWING UPDATES AND ART ON WALLS IS GREAT MAP BUT IT NEEDS THE FOLLOWING :
A // BRIDGES HAVE TO BE REPLACED WITH GLASS DUAL BRIDGES _ FIRST BRIDGE AND ONE ABOVE IT _ THESE ARCHING BRIDGES GOLDEN BUT NOT REALLY BRIDGES... MAYBE MAKE ONE BRIDGE GOLD AND OTHER ABOVE IT GLASS . . . TEST ALL LEGACY AND OTHER SHADERS BECAUSE SOME KIND OF GLASS TRANSPARENCY IS SUPPORTED . . . CUT ROUND HOLES IN THE GLASS BRIDGES TO MAKE EVERYONE USE CAUTION . . .
B // MORE OBJECTS ARE NEEDED BECASUE TOO MUCH OPEN SPACE . . . MAYBE CUBES OF VARIOUS SIZES OR ORBS CAN DO . . . OR SHIELDS LIKE SAND UP FLAT DOOR LIKE STONES WITH ALIEN GLOWING MARKINGS . . .
C / / UNDER LEVEL CAN BE CREATED SO IF YOU FALL OFF YOU END UP ON THE LOWEST FLOOR AND CAN THEN GO ANYWHERE AND USE LADDER OR RAMP TO GET BACK ON GROUND LEVEL . . .
Your ideas are not bad, but... I would likely consider them for an eventual remake of "Icos", as I see "Icos" rather finished at this point. It was my very first map, I learned a lot (about level design and modeling using ProBuilder/UModeler) while creating it and I feel that a new version of it - to which I can apply my past learnings - would be a better idea than making bigger/drastic changes to the current version. I already have some ideas for "Icos 2", but no promises here.
YOU NEED TO LEARN BLENDER TO MAKE MORE COMPLEX CUSTOM SHAPES.
HERE IS A 10 MINUTE BASIC 3D SKETCH I CREATED OF WHAT ICOS II OR MAYBE ICOS III COULD LOOK LIKE . . . HOWEVER MAX SAYS HE DOESN'T WANT ANY SIMPLE SHAPES AROUND THE MAP BUT IT IS A SIMPLE GAME _ SO MAYBE FIND FREE MODELS BUT NO CONTAINERS PLEASE OR MAKE A "CYBER CONTAINER" AS YOUR FIRST THING TO MAKE IN BLENDER . . .
IN BLENDER BESIDE MODELING YOU NEED TO KNOW THESE SO FBX WOULD IMPORT GOOD INTO UNITY :
1. CHECK NORMALS ( SO MATERIAL ON THE FACE OF A MODEL WOULD FACE THE RIGHT DIRECTION )
2. ASSIGN MATERIAL TO FACES ( THEN SPECIFIC UNITY MATERIAL CAN BE APPLIED INSTEAD OF THAT MATERIAL OCCUPYING THOSE FACES IT ASSIGNED TO )
3. CHECK FOR INTERSECTING FACES ( UNITY DISCARDS INTERSECTING FACES BUT IN BLENDER YOU CAN FIND THOSE MANUALY AND FIX OR USE CLEAN UP MERGE BY DISTANCE )
4. EXPORT SELECTED OBJECTS AS SINGLE FBX
I know Blender and I can work with it, but using ProBuilder or UModeler seems better for certain cases. "Icos" was made fully with UModeler. I can always go into Blender and make some more elaborate models. I just didn't need it for "Icos".
Again, I already have ideas for a potential "Icos 2". It just takes some time to come to fruition. Creating (good) maps is not easy.
Also, keep in mind that Warmerise still doesn't use Unity's PBR Standard Shader to this date - which is often discouraging. I can't make objects look shiny like in your images. I wish I could.
THIS IS JUST A SKETCH . . . BUT WITH BAKED LIGHTS I BELIEVE IT CAN SHINE . . . OR TRY TO USE SPECULAR SHADER AND SET MAIN COLOR DARKER AND SECONDARY VERY LIGHT AND IT WILL SHINE ENOUGH _ AND IF YOU SET THE DIRECTIONAL LIGHTS UP ABOVE AIMING DOWN FROM THE OPPOSITE CORNERS SHINE ON SPECULAR MATERIALS SHOULD WORK FROM ANY ANGLE _ . . . AND TO CREATE GLASS TRY AS I REMEMBER IT IS "LEGACY SHADER --> VERTEX LIT OR SPECULAR and adjust Alpha Channel "A" " and it should work AS TRANSPARENT IN WARMERISE . . . CREATE MANY CUBES AND APPLY DIFFERENT SHADERS TO FIND ONE THAT WORKS GOOD AS SPECULAR AND AS GLASS . . .
