9. Never Stop Smiling
Like an upbeat song telling you to always look up, the quokka reminds you to smile by merely smiling at you because who could not find happiness from a sight like this? Those chubby cheeks belong to this small macropod, native to the coast of Western Australia. The quokka is mainly nocturnal, though it totally looks like an animal that would be up during the day.
8. Every Rabbit
Whether you like to call them rabbits or bunnies, these small mammals all look adorable in their own way, regardless of the species. There’s bunnies in the wild as well as the domestic rabbit, of which there’s about 305 breeds. While they look adorable with their round, furry bodies and long ears, rabbits do have quite sharp incisor teeth made for munching away on those carrots and anything that gets in its way.
7. Friends, Not Anemones
Actually, they are anemonefish but you have to admit that title was kind of cute. The clown fish with its small orange body and huge round eyes makes it one of the cutest fish you’ve ever laid your eyes on (with 30 species of clownfish in the world, that’s a lot of adorableness). There’s a reason Pixar picked this fish to be the star of one of their most popular movies ever.
6. This One’s For Sure A Bear
Unlike the red panda, we know for a fact that giant pandas are classified as bears. There’s no denying it. While they’re known for their playfulness, giant pandas are like any other big bear--they’re strong and will fight you if they feel like they need to. Their other legacy is being known as an endangered species, with roughly about 1,600 specimens still living in the wild.
5. Out On The Prairie
For some reason, it’s hilarious watching a prairie dog come up from its burrow. More often than not, they look super surprised to be seeing the surface world. These burrowing rodents live in the grasslands of North America. Even though they’re rodents, they’re called dogs since their warning call sounds a lot like a dog barking. This ground squirrel was also introduced to the eastern regions of North America and can found as far south as Mexico.
4. The Fluffiest Fluff
You probably saw a dog like this and wondered if it was a toy. Well, it’s a toy dog so to speak, not necessarily children’s toy. Samoyeds actually grow to be quite large, but in their puppy state look a lot like cotton balls instead of the huge clouds they grow up into. Hailing from the Samoyedic peoples of Siberia, these canines are not only expensive to own, they are also quite intelligent.
3. The Smiling Salamander
There’s quite a few animals that smile on this list, aren’t there? Let’s get to ones of the cutest ones thus far, and that’s the Mexican salamander also more popularly referred to as the axolotl. These little amphibians grow to be about 6 to 18 inches or 15 to 45 centimeters in length, the the common size is up to 9 inches or 23 centimeters. They’re popular pets because they just look so pleasant to be around.
2. Wide Eyed And Scared
Those are two ways to describe the way the Philippines tarsier’s appearance and they’re rather accurate. This species of primate lives in the southeastern part of the Philippines archipelago, on the islands of Leyte, Mindanao, Samar, and Bohol. If you couldn’t tell, they’re quite shy creatures, living mostly in dark hollows during the day and running up around the rees during the night.
